Important Notice

Due to the current worldwide coronavirus crisis and the likely long-term effect on global travel in its aftermath, the local organisers of IDS 2020 in consultation with the ISDR Council have decided to postpone the symposium, at least until 2021.

We apologise to those people who have already made travel arrangements or have successfully obtained travel funding, but hope you understand our decision.

The IDS 2020 website will remain accessible throughout this period and updates will be released from time to time. The ISDR Council will also release a statement on their new website in due course.

We sincerely hope that this crisis will end soon and everyone will remain healthy, and that we can meet each other in Yamagata in 2021.

Yours sincerely

Richard Jordan

Host of IDS 2020 & President of ISDR

Welcome

Hello Everybody !!

Welcome to the Official Website of the 26th International Diatom Symposium (IDS26 or IDS 2020), which will be held in Yamagata, Japan, from 23-28 August 2020.

As always the symposium serves as an important forum for presenting and discussing all aspects of diatom research and provides an excellent chance to showcase state-of-the-art science, describe new techniques, and inform us of recent discoveries, including new taxa.

Once again, the Young Diatomists will be running their own sessions, so we would like to encourage all students to attend these events and to participate by presenting talks and posters.

We also plan to organise a number of workshops, and to have demonstrations and booths from diatom-related companies and institutes.

Finally, we would like to cordially invite you to register for our symposium and help us to make this a truly great meeting !!

I look forward to seeing you in Yamagata !!

Richard Jordan (IDS 2020 Convenor, on behalf of the LOC)
